Start with the shape.

Loose or pressed describes a format. The shape alone does not tell you the taste.

Loose leaf

Give the leaves room in an infuser or teapot, then strain before drinking.

Room to open

Pressed tea

Separate a portion with suitable tools before brewing. Keep your hands clear of the tool.

Loose leaf

Give the leaves room.

Use an infuser with space for the leaves to open, or a teapot with a strainer. Remove the leaves from the water when the cup tastes right to you.

Tea-specific amounts, temperatures and steeping times are being confirmed.

A few good questions.

Do I need special teaware?

A heat-safe cup is a useful starting point. For loose leaves, add a suitable infuser or strainer.

How do I find a taste I like?

Notice aroma, strength and the feeling of each sip. Start with confirmed brewing guidance and change one thing at a time.

Where are the exact brewing times?

Detailed brewing guidance is being confirmed for each tea in this preview. We have not assigned generic numbers to individual teas.
